Referencing Wild flowers : Hypericum
“Hypericum” (Hypericum perforatum), plant of extraordinary healing or magical powers by popular superstition.
Coming from the Greek name hyper-eikon, “plant growing on old statues”
For Hippocrates and Dioscorides his name would mean “plant of underworld ”.
It was believed to have the power to drive away evil spirits and ghosts, it is also called St. John’s Wort; to protect themselves people used to dance around fires with a hypericum flowers wreath around the head and burning at the end all the magic herbs (wormwood, sage, rosemary, mint an St john’ worth)
Truth is Hypericum (Hypericum perforatum) is a plant with multiple therapeutic qualities, a small treasure that grows wild among the olive trees of this magical land.
For me drawing is a way to understand all that surrounds me through all the senses. It’s been always the only way I know.
